DEMA 2005 Revisited!

Michael Topolovac presenting a High Definition Seminar at DEMA 2005.

Highlights from DEMA 2005
The introduction of the HDV format means that anyone can easily make the move from Standard to High Definition. At the 2005 Dema Expo, held in Las Vegas, NV in early October, the switch to HDV was one of the highlights of the show. And it was Light & Motion’s chance to show how we’re jumping into that format. Dema has been an important show for us, and this one was no exception. It’s a time to connect with the industry and we had a lot to share…

Light & Motion’s own co-founder Mike Topolovac pulled in the crowds for his in-booth seminar on High Definition Imaging 201. Mike explained the techniques he used to create the incredible HD video he shot with the new Bluefin FX1 housing on his recent trip to Komoto aboard the Kararu. He also showed some stunning footage taken by well known underwater videographer Chuck Nicklin, also in Komoto. The seminar had such an impact that we saw participants huddling afterwards, watching the video over-and-over to discuss the techniques.

It was standing room only for the L&M sponsored seminar “Now Is The Time To Jump In! by UW Videographer and author, Steve Fish. Along with some impressive imagery, Steve covered topics such as housing techniques, filming techniques and the topic we’re all talking about…switching to HDV and why. In the near future this newsletter will be featuring a three-part series covering Steve’s seminar in detail.

Our biggest splash came with the unveiling of our brand new Bluefin FX1 and Bluefin HC1 camera housings. These ground breaking housings are Light & Motion’s newest offering to the world of underwater HDV. And judging by the response, our new and already established users are ready! Things in the world of underwater imaging have so many possibilities that we’re already talking about ideas for DEMA 2006 in Orlando, FLA!
