Interview with Eric Squires

Hi there, I’m Eric Squires, the Sales Manager for Light & Motion.

What do you do at Light & Motion?
 I oversee our sales department. We have a sales team of three people, soon to be four, as we’re growing rapidly. My greatest priority with this team is to focus on great customer service. I’ve worked here for ten years.

What do you like best about Light & Motion?
The products. I think they’re really cool. I love the idea of starting with a concept and a need, engineering it, building it and coming out with a tangible product. I think our products are great!

Where’d you come from?
I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, moving briefly to Pennsylvania then on to southern California. I’m very happily married with two kids. I worked in the trade show industry until I moved myself and my family north to the Monterey Peninsula for this job at Light & Motion.

How does your history relate to where you are?
I grew up in southern California, surfing, making jumps for my bike and loved water skiing. I was a competitive runner and volleyball palyer. I was very sports oriented.

How does that reflect on your life today?
I do a fair bit of mountain and road racing. I compete in the class of 35+ 1/2/3 on the road and 40+ Expert on the dirt. A group of us will be racing on a local team called Team Joselyn's Racing. Our goal is to race a bunch, promote the sport and also mentor up the junior riders (the next generation).

Where do you like to escape to?
My wife and I love Maui. It’s where we went on our honeymoon, so it’s really special to both of us. I love to scuba dive there.

Whatever you do, do it with all your heart. And remember when life throws you a curve and things appear bleak, maybe you just need to look from a different perspective. Merry Christmas!
