Interview with Jackie Petro
Greetings, I’m
Jackie Petro, Light & Motion Marketing Manager.
What you do at Light & Motion?
I manage all marketing efforts of the company including advertising,
public relations, website
development, event coordination, sponsorships and promotions.
I’ve
been with Light & Motion for 6 months.
What do you like best about
Light & Motion?
We have great
products, wonderful staff and a casual work atmosphere. There’s
a sense of family at Light & Motion that doesn’t
exist in most places of business. I also like the fact that
most of the staff
live lifestyles that go hand-in-hand with our products. Most
people here either dive or bike on a regular basis.
Do you
use any Light & Motion products?
I have a Vega; it’s
the best commuter light on the market. The beam is so bright,
and the light is so easy to use, just clip it on to the
bike, the battery
and light are all one piece. When I get where I’m going,
I can just throw it in my bag and take it with me. I love
it!
Where’d you come from?
I was born in Epsom, Great
Britain. My father worked for the airline industry so we
moved a lot. Besides
the UK, we lived in South Africa, New Jersey, New York
and Los Angeles. Eventually, I got tired of living the LA city
life and
moved to Monterey.
What
is your history before
working at Light & Motion?
I've always loved nature
and sports: riding my bike; ice skating; hiking in
the forest behind our house and
swimming. It is my truest form of expression. I
evolved into triathlons, competitive running, century
rides and scuba diving.
I worked at the Monterey Bay Aquarium for eleven years.
I also served on our local ocean rescue squad as a
Dive Medial Technician.
I had an opportunity to move into corporate
marketing, took the leap and immediately loved it.
The things I didn’t
like were commuting to work and being away from the
ocean. I am passionately in love with Monterey and own my dream
home here,
so I decided to find work closer to home. I was thrilled
to be hired on to Light & Motion. Not only is it
a great job, it brings me back to the diving and cycling
communities I love so
much.
Any special holiday wish
you’d like to send
out the readers?
I want all the readers to know how much
each of us appreciates
you. Without you, we wouldn’t be at Light & Motion
and we never forget that. All of us must focus on what
we’ve
been given in this life, and not so much on what we don’t
have. We’re truly blessed to live in this great
nation. I wish you a holiday season filled with love,
abundance and health.
Thank you for being part of the Light & Motion community.
