PERFORMANCE

Light & Motion is proud to present the winning videos of the 2006 Kona Classic!

The Kona Classic Video Contest just closed out last weekend. Participants were treated to video seminars by Light & Motion video expert Dan Baldocchi. “With HDV at such a high quality, video is definitely the hot ticket in the imaging world.”

After the opening day’s seminar, Dan held daily critique sessions at Jack’s Diving Locker.  What was Dan’s number one tip? “Shoot to edit," he said. "The trick to editing video is to shoot with a plan. Varying your shot types and creating transitions in the water will make your job a lot easier when it’s time to edit your final piece."

Jeff Leicher from Jack's Diving Locker backed Dan up. Jeff sez "composition taught by still photography applies to video, but then you get to tell a story."

For the next week participants put Jeff and Dan's advice to the test and produced a three minute video.  According to the rules all video had to be taken during the event and participants had to bring their own editing system. With that open ended direction,  some videos were funny, some were sweet, and some were educational.

Because this is a Light & Motion release it must be said that the first place winner shot a Top Dawg housing, second place was shot with a StingRay II, and third place was shot with a BlueFin. Bring out the brooms! It’s a sweep! Congratulations to everyone.
