Interview with Russ Sanoian

Hello, I’m Russ Sanoian, one of the Light & Motion sales representatives.

What you do at Light & Motion? How long have you worked here?
I sell bike lights and underwater video and still photography housings for Light & Motion. I’ve worked for Light & Motion for a year and a half.

What do you like best about Light & Motion?
I love the environment and the people here.

Do you use any Light & Motion products?
I have a Titan D 100 (my favorite!). I also have a Tetra 5050/7070, Blue fin VX2100, Blue fin HC 1 Marko PC 1000. On my bike I use a Vega for commuting and an ARC Li-ion for night rides. I still want a Solo Logic SL for night rides; I think it’s a really cool light.

Where’d you come from?
I was born in Fresno, CA. I grew up in Coarsegold, CA, a small town near Fresno. I also spent a lot of time at my grandpa’s property in Yosemite. That’s where I gained most of my interest in wilderness and outdoor activities.

What is your history before working at Light & Motion?
I was shy and kept to myself. I spent a lot of time on my bike and eventually became competitive in downhill and cross country. I won the 2000 World Cup in downhill racing. I also started Nemesis racing in 1999 with Roger Paul to fill the void of professionally run downhill races. We required no NORBA license to race, cheap entry fee, fun atmosphere and a killer course. I also spent 11years in the Forest Service as a Wildland Firefighter living in New Mexico, Oregon and the Sierra National Forest. Eventually, I moved on to diving. I was certified to dive when I was in Jr. High, now I wanted to get seriously into it. I began driving to the Monterey Peninsula every weekend to dive, so I decided to move here. I’m an avid technical/rebreather diver, as well as having a huge interest in underwater video and still photography. This is what brought me to work at Light & Motion.

Any special holiday wish you’d like to send out the readers?
I wish everyone the best during this holiday season and the New Year. Please remember to give thanks and prayers to all of our armed forces who are in harm’s way. Their sacrifice allows us to enjoy the freedom and time with our families and friends that is so precious.
