Is it safe to ship my camcorder inside of the housing?
We ask that you never ship your camcorder inside of the housing. Shipping companies may drop your package from up to three feet which may damage your camcorder.

My The Titan D200 housings LCD screen will not respond after the camera goes to sleep, any suggestions?
Turning the camera off then back on will return the LCD to normal but you may experience this again once the camera goes to sleep.
To prevent the camera from going to sleep enter the cameras menu, then the Custom Setting Menu, scroll to item C3 and set the value to “No Limit”. This will prevent the LCD screen from locking up.

Camera Firmware information:Both versions of Nikon Firmware are supported either the first version or the new Version 2.0.0.

Titan D200 Housing information:The most current version of software for the Titan D200 housing is Version 2.02, to see which version software you have scroll to L&M on the LCD screen and then Ver “version” and it should read “c2.02r2.02”

Why doesn't my Smart Grip handle work?
It's probable that the batteries have run down. Try replacing them with 1/3N lithium cells. Simple remove the rear handle cap to reveal the batteries. Please note the orientation (+,-) of the batteries.

What is the depth rating of Light & Motion housings?
Prior to shipping each housing is individually tested to 300 feet. However, because it is possible to incur damage during shipping, we recommend an initial test dive without the camcorder installed.

What mechanisms does Light & Motion use to insure a water tight seal? The sealing system used on the rear plate uses dual O-rings, operated by a rotary latch mechanism. Stingray housings use two bore seals while our Bluefin housings use one bore seal and one face seal. All optics also feature a double O-ring sealing system.

Why use two o-rings on the rear plate and the optics? This is the most critical area of the housing and also receive the most wear. The double o-ring design is totally redundant and just an extra security.

What is a proper O-ring inspection? Make sure this surface is clean from grit, hair, lint and anything that could potentially breach the O-ring seal.

Why do O-rings need to be lubricated? Make sure the rear plate o-rings stay lubricated. If not properly lubricated, one O-ring can "walk over" the other and pinch. Please inspect before each dive.

Is my camera safe from water damage once I'm out of the water? No, never open the housing when you or the housing are wet. After use, dunk the housing in fresh water and remove it. (DON'T LEAVE IT UNDER A PILE OF OTHER GEAR). Damage usually occurs from abrupt impacts from other gear. Towel dry the housing and make sure there is no water on you or the housing before opening. What are the little blinking green lights on my battery pods?
The blinking green LED is a visual signal that the lighting system is "awake" and
can be operated from the Smart Grips. If the light is not blinking, then the lights
must be powered-up from the power button on the battery pod.

How come my SunRay Elite lights only turn on/off and won't allow me to use the multiple output settings?
When using the SunRay Elite lights, make sure the black ring (around
the red button at the rear of the battery pod) is positioned facing "E"
When using the SunRay Pro lights, make sure the black ring (around the red button at the rear of the battery pod) is positioned facing "P".

Should I keep the rear plate and camera tray dry as well?
Yes, the rear of the camera tray is where the monitor back docks electronically. It is
very important to make sure you don't drop/drip water in this area. This is
true regardless of which system you own.

Why does my video have the corners cut off? This is called vignetting. Some Light & Motion Macro lenses vignette in wide angle in order to optimize their macro capabilities. For Stingray housings manufactured prior to 1999, vignetting is most frequently caused by installing the Stingray Zoom Macro Lens on the outside of the housing and NOT installing the Zoom Macro Adapter on the camera itself. Mako, Bluefin, and Stingray II housings have the Zoom Macro Adapter built in and do not require user installation.

Why doesn't my camera power up? If you have a camera with a nicad battery, the camera battery adapter is probably not installed. If you have a camera with a lithium ion battery and a Stingray housing manufactured prior to 1999, there are two 125mAh 3v Lithium Coin Cell batteries (#CR2025) which provide power to the Stingray circuitry. They are located underneath the rear plate circuit board and may need to be replaced. Remove the rear plate circuit board by unscrewing the four button head cap screws and replace the batteries.

Why doesn't the zoom bar and standby/record indicator show up on my monitor? You probably just need to set your camera's display to V-out/LCD as opposed to just LCD. Push your menu button, scroll down to and click etc., scroll down and click display, then toggle the display control to V-out/LCD. If you have a TR-7000 you will also need to rotate the data screen select counter clock wise on your housing. See Stingray-7000 instructions.

I've heard that there was a recall for a few Light & Motion lights. Are mine affected? Light & Motion announced a Voluntary Safety Recall on the Sunray Mod Light in July of 2003. If you own a Sunray Mod Light click here to read the recall information.
